Exciting things are happening in the Biology Lab at JMU! We are studying the pathogenesis of  Bordetella avium, the causative agent of turkey coryza or bordetellosis.  Undergraduate researchers discovered bacteriophage that infect Bordetella avium and are studying the biology of these phage. We utilize the tracheal ring model to study attachment of the bacterium to the cilia of the turkey.
