Research Interests:
I am interested in studying the function of the foot during bipedalism in a species of Prosimian,
Propithecus verreauxi verreauxi. These primates, who live in the lower regions of Madagascar,
are known to utilize a unique form of bipedalism, hopping, when they are on a terrestrial substrate.
In the arboreal environment, these primates utilize mostly vertical clinging and leaping and are so
especially adapted for grasping and leaping, that I believe their feet will behave in a similar manner
on the ground.
