• small, 5-11 kg
• dagger-like canines; blade-like lower anterior premolars
• short snouts
• large orbits with protruding rims; wide interorbital distance

• globular brain case with no nuchal cresting
• shallow mandible with broad ascending ramus
• long forelimbs and legs
• long, curved, slender digits on hands and feet

• aerialists- move almost exclusively by two-armed branchiation and slower quadrumanous climbing
• diet - ripe fruit, new leaves, termites and arachnids
• small, monogamous families usually composed of a mated pair and up to 4 dependent offspring
